“WINDOWS/VENTANAS” is a Family Communications Skills Program that has been honored at both the state and national levels for its effectiveness in the prevention of substance abuse by strengthening families. The curriculum is available in both English and Spanish.
CPRP – Community Prevention and Recover Programs: Drop-in centers in El Monte, La Puente, and Glendora offer a full range of alcohol prevention and recovery services. El Monte has developed DOVE (Domestic & Other Violence Education) a domestic violence program for batterers in response to needs expressed by the judicial system and the community. La Puente has initiated a Youth Federation for student leadership development. Glendora has created counseling/support groups for middle school youth.
VISTA – Victory In Sobriety Through Awareness: Outpatient drug free professional counseling program offered to recovering addicts and their families, both youth and adults.
AASUL – Assistance with Alcohol and Sobriety Uniting Latinas: This media campaign is designed to educate Latinas in California about alcohol abuse and related problems and offers a network of support services. Resources developed by AASUL are nationally in demand.
CARINO – Child Abuse Risk Intervention and Neighborhood Outreach: In Spanish, carino means “tender affection” and reflects the non-judgmental attitude our staff has working with families t prevent and/or break the cycle of child abuse.
CLARO – Challenging Latinos to Access Resource Opportunities: This program uses positive role modeling and culturally appropriate support groups to challenge high-risk male youth to explore alternatives to prevent involvement in gangs, alcohol, other drug abuse, premature and/or irresponsible sexual activity and teen pregnancy.
SERENA – Self-Empowerment Resources to Educate, Nurture and Advocate: This program combines support groups, counseling and guidance as well as academic, social and recreational activities to promote cultural awareness and to help young females, ages 12 through 18 to define their identity and find solutions to many of the problems they face.
COLORS – Community Organizations Linking Optimum Resource Services is a family preservation program designed to provide a strong base of support for families dealing with abuse and neglect. The primary focus and of paramount importance is the safety and welfare of the child.
