Recovery is not an event; it is a process of that encompasses all aspects of one’s life.
Recovery has several identifiable stages:
- Recognition or willingness to admit that a problem exists
- hitting bottom-when a person is hurt, threatened or scared enough to take action
- Cessation of drinking/drug use could include detoxification which may or may not require medical attention
- Stabilization
- Early recovery
- the first two years of abstinence
- Positive on-going change that include a clean & sober lifestyle
- Maintenance
SPIRITT offers drug and alcohol treatment programs in four of its five operating centers; Santa Fe Springs, La Puente, Glendora and El Monte. Each program creates “systems of care,” that include individualized treatment plans, all of which are client driven. SPIRITT clients have choices in their treatment plan and can even choose a facility that is most convenient for them.
Most importantly, all SPIRITT programs are based on “solution focused strategies” most have an emphasis on the Twelve Step philosophy. Individuals who have enrolled in 12-step recovery programs state these steps were more than just another method to stop drinking; the “steps” became a guide toward a new way of life. Enrollment fees for these programs are based on a sliding fee scale. However, NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN TURNED AWAY BECAUSE THEY COULDN’T AFFORD TO PAY. Transportation is available for clients who are eligible for this service.
